270 – Beauty of the Barn Swallow

This little song bird has been clocked flying at speeds up to 74 kilometres per hour and is one of the most common land birds in the world.  Despite this commonality of the bird across the globe, some parts of North America have seen a decline in barn swallows in recent history.
