131 – The Majestic Elk

I captured this image in Jasper National Park, where about 1300 elk currently live after being almost completely wiped out by hunters in the 19th and 20th Century, and then being reintroduced to the area.  In Cree elk are called ‘wapiti’ after their white rump, a term that is useful in Eurasia where people often refer to moose as elk.
