321 – Fort La Tour

None of the ‘Forts of Acadia; have a more interesting history than that of Fort LaTour.  It’s strategic location at the mouth of the Saint John River is a testament to it’s historical significance in the region.

“Fort LaTour has long stood as one of Saint John’s historical icons in the heart of the city and we have an opportunity to ensure that its potential as a cultural tourism product is realized,” said the chair of the Fort LaTour Development Authority Beth Kelly Hatt last year, while also pointing out a strong commitment made by the provincial government to invest in heritage resources across New Brunswick.  Let’s hope this initiative leads to the making this site more attractive and interactive for tourists, maximizing the scope of it’s importance as one of New Brunswick’s historical treasures.
